  • MCCULLOCH COUNTY ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR'S TAX RATE. THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 8.48 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $51.10

    Severe Winter Weather Event Recovery 

    On February 12, 2021 Governor Greg Abbott declared a state of disaster in all 254 counties based on the threat of severe winter weather which posed an imminent threat of widespread and severe property damage, injury, and loss of life due to prolonged freezing temperatures, heavy snow, and freezing rain statewide.

    On February 14, 2021 Governor Abbott announced the White House had issued a Federal Emergency Declaration for Texas in response to the severe winter weather throughout the state. This Federal Emergency Declaration authorized the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide emergency protective measures for mass care and sheltering and Direct Federal Assistance for all 254 counties in Texas.

    To meet the Individual Assistance threshold, home and business owners of McCulloch County are urged to complete the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) “Self-Reporting Damage Survey” to help the state identify damages across Texas and help emergency management officials gain an understanding of  damages to their homes from the storm. Those living in an undesignated county can utilize the survey to assist the State in quantifying damages to their community. The voluntary survey, available in both English and Spanish, can be accessed by clicking www.TDEM.texas.gov/warm or scan the barcode below:

    Governor Greg Abbott and the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) are encouraging Texans to complete the Self Reporting Damage Survey to help the state identify damages across Texas.

    Reporting damages to the Texas Division of Emergency Management is a voluntary activity, is not a substitute for reporting damage to an insurance agency, and does not guarantee disaster relief assistance. Even if you have insurance you are still encouraged to fill this survey out. If you are unable to report these damages due to not having internet abilities, please contact the County Judges office at 325-597-0733 ext. 4 to assist you.
